Dua Saleh was born in Kassala, Sudan, and fled to the USA with her family at the age of five. Even as a child, writing lyrics became a way to express her feelings and experiences of escape, while singing became increasingly important to her. Her debut single, "First Take," was released in 2017 , followed annually from 2018 onwards by further singles and the EPs " Nūr " (2019), " ROSETTA " (2020), and " CROSSOVER " (2021). Saleh's soulful, dark, and shape-shifting style has not only captivated media outlets like the New York Times and NME, but has also attracted an international audience.
